The snow is coming down!

Well, the weather man was right for a change! I can't actually believe it is snowing here!! I totally kept telling everyone it wasn't gonna happen, but I guess I'm eating those words right now...LOL!

Here is a pic of my DH standing in front of our house. It's funny, he doesn't like snow or coldness, so I am very surprised at how giddy he was this morning. When we went skiing/snowboarding for Christmas he wasn't that excited about the snow, but I guess it's because it wasn't actually falling then, it was already on the ground....LOL!! I want him to go out in it and make snow angels so I can take pics, but he doesn't want to "ruin" it....are you kidding me?? In front of our house, down the street view.

Backyard pics:

My oldest daughter is not so excited about the snow. She's just laying in her bed sleeping, so I guess I wont' getting any pics of her in her snow gear playing in it. I'll update if she changes her mind. On the other hand, my youngest daughter isn't even home so I have no idea how she is enjoying the snow. I guess she and her friend will have some fun playing in it. Hopefully her friends mom will take pics and share with me....LOL!!
Since I don't plan on going anywhere in this mess, I will be home scrapping the day away if my DH will let me...LOL!
Til next time....

Karen

Another Room Makeover down!

Well, Sarina's room is FINALLY done!! Yeah.....she is so excited! My mom did an outstanding job on both of the girls rooms and I know she is happy that she is done...LOL!

Here is the before shots of Sarina's Room:

And the finished product. At the top of 2 walls is a really dark purple and on the other 2 is a pink. At the bottom is black and is separated with a white chair rail. It is the "grown-up Princess room".

Here is the decopauge my mom did with scrapbook paper....again, terrific job Mom!!

This is Sarina's photo board, where she can put pics of her and her friends or cards she receives.

My mom painted these diamonds on the walls.

And lastly, this bustierre lamp. Isn't it the cutest darn thing you've ever seen???

That's it for now. Stay posted for my future postings on my scrapbook related happenings over at If The Shoe Fits blog. My scrappiness begins February 5th!!

Scrap "Room" Makeover

So, I was going to scrap this weekend but discovered I was out of adhesive....are you kidding me? I was at the store on Saturday and had I known that I would have bought some more. Oh well!! Since I couldn't scrap, I decided I would rearrange my "room", which is actually my bedroom closet...LOL!

My mom had bought me the Jet Max cube things for Christmas a year ago and they had been sitting in my garage because I just didn't want to put them together. She also got me the Embellie Center from MM, but I haven't gotten around to hanging that yet either! Oh well, one thing at a time.

Here is my mess before:

And here is after:
Now I just need to get my hind-end to the store to buy more adhesive so I can actually get in there and scrap!
Til next time!
XOXO,
Karen

Room Makeover - Nearly Complete

Well, Breanna's room is nearly complete! It will be finished, hopefully, at the end of the month when her chest of drawers comes in and we are able to decorate around it (to figure out where everything else is gonna go).

In this 1st picture, the item in the middle is actually made out of scrapbook paper! Who knew my mom could do something with PP??!! I'm very proud of her! She took a regular piece of canvas and decopauged it with the PP, added ribbon and embellished it. It came out beautiful, right??

Here is Breanna laying in her new bed, of course on her computer!

The dresser in this picture is actually going to be donated to a guy at my hubby's work (who has 9 kids under 12). So she will have a big empty space right there where we plan on getting a makeup vanity & chair, with the mirror (on the floor in the pic) is going to go right above it.

And then this lamp! It is too cute and came just like that. I don't know where she purchased it, but it is fabulous!

Next up is Sarina's room, which is going to get started tomorrow. She is super excited about that! This time I was smart and took a "before" picture, so when I post the progress on her room I will post the before pic.
Thanks for reading! I will be back this weekend with some new posts (hopefully) as I am participating in some online crops from my groups on CafeMom.
See ya soon!

5 Challenges in 1 Layout....WHAT??!

I totally did 5 challenges in 1 layout since I posted this morning! I can't believe it!!
The layout is of my youngest daughter, Sarina, 11th birthday in 2008. Below are the Challenges I completed with this layout:

1 - Nuts About Sketches - Week 91, I just flipped the vertical 4x6's to horizontal
2 - Sketches by Tamara - Challenge #102: Use Rub ons, Flowers and Bling (the rub on is the word WISH)
3 - The Pink Elephant - Challenge #49, Birthday themed
4 - Practical Scrappers - Glitter/Bling, which are the flower centers, the dots above the pic on right, in the word Celebrate (which I recolored with stickles) and the CROWN is glittered
At last, but not least 5 - If the Shoe Fits - Fashionista Friday #17 - Chipboard, which is the word Celebrate at the bottom.

Here is a list of items I used in making this layout, which is now one of my favorites!!
CS - DCWV
Rubon - Oriental Trading
Lace CS - KI Memories in Bouquet Cosmo
PP behind the lace - MME in Laundry Line Coastal Lucky
Ink - CTMH in Ocean (distressed CS around Wish)
Chipboard - Colorbok
Flowers - Bo Bunny & Miscellaneous ones from stash
Crown - MM Glitter clears
Stickles - Majenta and Aqua
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog. Be sure to visit the blogs listed above for some great ideas and inspiration!!

2 New Pages & A Room Makeover

Besides trying to scrap, my daughter's rooms are getting 360 degree makeover! I'll explain more below.

So this weekend I got a little scrappy....not much, but it's a beginning! I scrapped pictures of my girls opening their Christmas presents on our vacation. The tree was TINY, but I took a picture of it anyways and decided to put it on their LO's. Besides clothes (naturally), they both received a digital camera and an ILUV alarm clock/radio/docking station for their IPOD's. Boy were they surprised!

Breanna's Page (above) Recipe:
CTMH - Jingle PP, CS, & Diecut (cut out another ornament & pop-dotted it...it's the red shiny one at the bottom right)
Ribbon - AC
Stickles: Xmas Red & Icicle
Sarina's Page (above) Recipe:
CTMH - Jingle PP, CS & Diecut (cut out another present and stickled it & pop-dotted)
Ribbon - Joann's Craft Essentials
Stickles - Aqua & Xmas Red
Now onto the Room Makeover! For their Christmas gift, my mother is redoing their bedrooms from top to bottom. Instead of choosing who got to go first, the girls decided to have her flip a coin and Breanna won the toss. I really wish I had taken a picture of her room before so that you could see what she was up against, but she started while I was at work and I didn't get the chance to. But to give you an idea, Breanna's room was Mint Chocolate Chip Green, with accents of Turquoise! I mean, it was pretty, but she chose that when she was 10 years old and she is turing 15 in 2 months....time for a change! She is also going from a full-size bed down to a twin to give her more room....her furniture took up most of the space.
Anyways, her room is black, white & a gold-ish color, with a "plaid" on one wall. It doesn't look plaid to me, but it looks really awesome. I can't wait until it is completed and we get to see all the details my mom puts into it. I will post pics of the finished project when it is done. And I will post when Sarina's room gets started (she is going for the "grown-up princess" feel in her room).
Ok, I'm going to try to get some scrapping done for a couple of challenges I've found while blog-hopping. I've got 2 hours before I have to get ready for work.
Have a great day and thanks for reading!

2010 and I'm off to a slow start!

But at least I started, right?? Below is a LO I made of my 2 daughters & their Auntie after their 1st time snowboarding. I LOVED this pic and knew I had to scrap it when I got home. It helps that my hubby got me a HP Photosmart A532 wireless photo printer for Christmas....this printer ROCKS! All I had to do (after following directions) is to insert my SD card from my camera, chose the picture I wanted and hit print! It does 4x6, 5x7 and I believe 4x11 panoramic pics (although my camera doesn't do panaoramas). I'm gonna love using this and the pictures print out so crisp you would think I had them professionally printed!

Anyways, back to the LO. I did this for a challenge over at If the Shoe Fits... for Fashionista Friday #16. The challenge was to use 10 of one embellie (and I hope that 10 PP works)....not sure you can tell, but there are actually 11 PP on this page. I also took the sketch from Scrapbooks, Etc. magazine's Aug/Sept issue (page 20) and switched it from an 81/2 x 11 page to a 12x12 page.

Stop on over at The Shoe every Friday for their challenges....they are a great group of talented women and they love meeting new people!
Supplies used:
- CTMH Aspen PP & CS (except the white one lined like school paper, which is Lily Bee's Vintage Poppy diecut)
- Alphabets - American Crafts Thickers (in vinyl...not sure what font though)
- Paint - Adirondack (in Aqua, Lemonade & Sandal)
- Chipboard - unknown (the snowflakes & photo corners)
- Pen - a regular Bic ink pen

New Year Promises.....I think!

Ok, so a New Year is here and I've made myself some promises. I'm not calling them "resolutions" because, you know as well as I do, when you do that they just go right out the window. So here's a list of PROMISES I've made to myself:

1 - Lose 10-15 pounds. I paid for this tummy tuck 2 years ago and I've just gotten back into the habit of eating anything I want and not watching my weight, hence I've gained some of it back and I hate it!

2 - Organize my scrap "closest". Yes, I called it a closet, because technically it is!! Now just to get all the clothes out of there so I can actually get in there and scrap....which leads me to #3.

3 - Scrap more!! I've got a zillion pictures laying around that I would love to get scrapped, but because of #2 above, I just don't feel like getting in there!

4 - Blog more! I'm terrible at getting on here and just posting what I feel or what I've been doing. I'm going to try and be better at it.

5 - I'm sure I'll come up with a few more, but mainly those are it (for now!)

Well, in other news: We just got back from our Wintergreen Resort vacation in Nellysford, VA. This was the first time we had gone to the snow and my youngest daughter had a blast! Both of my girls took snowboarding lessons with their Aunt, but my oldest didn't care for it to much. However, my youngest is a natural at it! She even attempted to teach my husband on our 2nd to last day there. If we let her, she would just go and not come back until her lift ticket was expired! Now I'm thinking we are going to have MANY more trips to the mountains for snowboarding!

Below are some pics of us during Christmas. Hope you enjoy and I will be back soon with some finished scrapbook pages (I hope...LOL!!)

Here we are outside the condo we rented for the week:

Here is my youngest, Sarina (in pink) teaching her dad how to work the snowboard....isn't that cute??

Here are my 3 girls (well, one of them is my sister) at the end of their 1st day snowboarding. My youngest doesn't look too happy, does she? Nope, she was tired and wanted to take a nap (hello....she's 12 1/2!!!)
