Amazing Young Man Scrapbook Designer & A Giveaway!

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting in awhile, but I've been super busy! 1 - Looking for a new job and 2 - Trying to create Christmas presents for my in-laws...so don't worry, there will be some scrappiness going on in my house which I will post when I'm done! Right now I'm playing with some Graphic 45 Christmas Past paper and 2 chipboard albums bought in the $1 bin at Michaels (a Christmas Tree and an Ornament!)

Anyways, I wanted to let you guys know about this FABULOUS designer I found on YouTube about a month or so ago. His name is Drew (YT name is Cardofmyeye) and he does some outstanding work; making cards and mini albums! When I first saw one of his videos, I was like "man he sounds so YOUNG!"....turns out he is! He is only 15 and has only been scrapping for a year!! You have got to stop by his blog and check him out. Here is the link to ScrappyHappiness. Go NOW and check him out! He is gonna be the next Tim Holtz for sure (who he was fortunate enough to meet and take classes from a little bit ago!!).

And the giveaway I mentioned....he is giving away a Cricut cartridge because he just reached 1000 subbies on his YouTube channel! All you need to do is leave him a comment on his blog to enter to win. It would be nice if you subbed his channel and became a follower of his blog as well! There are also 2 other ways to be entered as well, so be sure to read his blog!

Ok, that's it for now! Thanks for stopping by. Hope everyone has a Terrific Turkey Day!

Hugs,

Karen

What's happening?!

Again, with being the bad blogger...LOL!! I've been a little preoccuppied with trying to get some Christmas presents done, that I've neglected my blog.

I was able to get a few projects done for If The Shoe Fits blog. You can check them out here.

I did this page of my oldest daughter's Freshman year in High School. The "Grizzlies" paper I purchased from my LSS and it's a custom made paper they had made for all the local schools in their school colors and mascots.
And this one I did for The Shoe's Holiday themed challenge. These are of my family at Christmas in 2001 while we were stationed on MCB Camp Pendleton, CA. Thankfully, all my husband's family is in that area and we were able to spend it with them.

Thanks for stopping by! Head on over to The Shoe and see what this weeks challenge is! I will hopefully be getting some scrapping done this weekend and will be able to post pics soon!
Hugs,
Karen

Have Stress?? Must Distress!!

I have been a bad blogger the last 2 weeks...LOL!!! Too many things going on all at once, I guess! I have been trying to come up with some ideas for Christmas presents for the extended family, ones that I don't have to spend a lot of money on and ones that will be unique to the person getting it! I've decided to do some mini-albums for the nieces and nephews and a 8x8 calendar for the MIL/FIL. The calendar was coming along ok, until I ran out of ink in my printer!! I don't have the extra cash right now to buy the color cartridges, but hopefully in the next month I can get it ordered!

Anywhoo....This weeks challenge over at The Shoe was to Distress!! It can be inking, tearing, etc....whatever you do to distress!! I've done my "Cherish" page using all CTMH products and inking my colonial white paper with brown ink. Not my best work, but it's still cute!!

So, stop on by The Shoe and enter your project. No back-linking please, only new projects.

This project I did for the week before over at The Shoe. It was to use orange in your project. I LOVED how this one turned out. Unfortunately, the pic I took here isn't the best, but the photo in the LO was of my 2 daughters, my Uncle and my Aunt riding the Griffon at Busch Gardens. It was my Aunt's first time riding it and the look on her face is so totally hysterical!! I just love it!!

Around We Go!

Here lately I've been getting a lot scrapped, you just haven't seen most of it yet (they are for challenges that haven't posted just yet!!) But I have the day off today and have been "lurking" on a website called ScrapyLand. Their gal Susan is just the funniest lady and I just LOVE her Starting Blox! Plus they have a store that I've been dying to shop at, just don't have the luxury of any extra scrapping money right now...LOL!! If you are into QuicKutz, you have to check them out!!

So today, I decided to do her current one, Starting Blox #17 and I knew I had the perfect pics to do! This is my oldest daughter and her grandma riding the ferris wheel at Knotts Berry Farm last year. I fussy cut a couple of images (the "send 25 cents and the red 2 card) from the scrap side of the paper and used for embellies.

Supplies:
CS: Bazzill; PP: Sassafrass Lass; Ink/Spray: Shimmerz in Cotton Candy and Red-y or Not; Gel Writer Pen; Adhesive: ATG and EK Success Pop Dots.

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

The Shoe Challenge - Flowers!!

The challenge over at The Shoe this week is.....are you ready for it?.....FLOWERS!! Super easy right? We use flowers on almost all of our projects anyways, so this is simple!

I've been trying to do all my girls' school pictures, but it's so hard to decide what to scrap and how with them. However, once this challenge came up I knew I had the perfect picture to scrap of my youngest daughter from her school pic last year. I just LOVE how it turned out!!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. And stop on by The Shoe and get your project turned in for a chance to win our Shoe Blinkie to post on your blog!

Supplies below!
CS, PP, INK - CTMH; Flowers - Handmade by Lorinda (Etsy store, AtwaterMoon); Gel Pen - Sakura; Ribbon - American Crafts; Adhesive - Xyron X and ATG gun.

The Shoe Color Challenge - Aug. 27th

This week's challenge over at The Shoe is to use the following Copic colors on your LO. Now, you don't have to actually use Copic's, we just thought that there are a lot of Copic users out there and what better way to get them inspired too!

The colors this week are: Ocean Green, Nile Green and Nile Blue. I hope you enjoy my take on these beautiful colors!

These are pictures from last summer (09) on our vacation to San Diego.

Supplies used:
CS: DCWV; PP: K&Co; Alpha: American Crafts; Punch: Fiskers; Adhesive: ATG Gun; Pen: Gelly Roll; Paper Piercer: CTMH; Thread: Unknown.

Blog Giveaway - Wait until you see it!

So I was perusing the PageMaps blog and came across her list of "must read" blogs. One of them is Simply Tiffany's blog and she is having an amazing giveaway!! CLICK HERE for the details!

Now, I had never even heard of this, but I went to their website and it sounds like a great product! You can draw sketches (right to your computer), mark-up documents in your own handwriting and it even INLUDES Photoshop Elements!! This might be one of my "if I ever have any 'extra' money laying around, I need to purchase this item" kind of things....LOL! Or, here's to hoping to win this awesome prize!

Fashionista Friday Diecut Challenge

This week's challenge over at The Shoe is to use Diecuts....simple, right? You would think so, but I'm not a big user of Diecuts, I pretty much do simple pages; some fancier than others too...LOL!

These are pictures of my 2 daughters and their 2 friends when we went camping for the first time in our new trailer. We were down at Lake Gaston, NC and it was a bit chilly (way back in April). Of course, the girls see the camera and start acting all crazy and these are the pics I got!

All these pieces (except the white CS) are from Storytellers Club, March 2009 kit. They are laser diecuts and come on 3 different sheets so you have plenty to choose from, so I decided to use 2 borders, one of which says "It's a ZOO in here", that I found absolutely perfect for these pics.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have found some inspiration to use animal pattern paper in a different way, just like me!

Chillin' on the Metro

I was able to get a page done....FINALLY!! I just love these pics of my girls riding the Metro in Washington DC. We went up there camping for Father's Day and these were the only 2 pictures I took the entire time...LOL!

I love the way it came out, and it only took me about 10 minutes to do it all! Supplies:
CS: CTMH; PP: CTMH; 2 Labels: CTMH; small alphas: QK Sophie; Chipboard Letters: unknown; Adhesive: Ad Tech and EK Success Pop Dots.

Page Maps Sketch & Prize

So yesterday I was blog hopping and decided to go to Page Maps to see what was going on over there, not just their blog but to see any new sketches that they may have had. I stumbled upon the sketch challenge for this week (deadline August 15th) and decided I would give it a try. I'm not much for entering challenges, but Holy Moly, did you see the prize they are giving away?? If not, see below and CLICK HERE to go directly to Page Maps blog.

Here is my take on the sketch. I used a 5 x 7 pic of my daughters and nephew on the Riptide ride at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA from last year. I've been wanting to scrap it for a long time, just didn't know what to do until I saw this sketch!! I just LOVE that the picture is of them upside down on the ride!!

Here is a list of products I used:

CS: DCWV & Bazzill; PP: Echo Park; Prima packaging; Stickers: Echo Park and Thickers; Tag: Tim Holtz Sizzix Bigz; Journaling tag: Joanns; Punch: Fiskers; Ribbon: Unknown.
Thanks for stopping by and Good Luck everyone who enters!

Happy 17th Birthday Isaiah!

This is my nephew, Isaiah. I can't believe that he is going to be 17 on July 25th! It seems like just yesterday he was this cute little baby of 11 months when I first met him (he was exactly 7 months old when his uncle and I got married) and actually, it was the first time I had met any of my in-laws. I won't be able to see him on his birthday, again, since we live in VA and they live in CA. But I made this beautiful birthday card for him and I'm sure he knows how much I love and miss him!

I hope you enjoy the easel card and I've listed the products used below.

CS: Bazzill and DCWV
PP: MME and DCWV
Stamps & Ink: CTMH
Punch: EK Success
Alpha: QK Sophie
Adhesive: Adtech & PopDots

Been too long (Pic Happy Post)

I cannot believe how long it's been since I last posted. I guess it is because I have been super busy so far this summer, between working and "vacationing" (aka camping), I haven't really had much time. This week after our trip to Lake Gaston, I did have a few more days off and decided to get some scrappiness going on! I hope you like what you see!!

Here is a page of my youngest daughter and her baby cousin Grace at Coronado Beach, CA last July. That was the first time they had met, but you would never have guessed it! Gracie loved her cousin immediately!

This is a page from our night out to see "Legally Blonde: The Musical" on New Years Day this year. You couldn't bring cameras in, but thankfully I have one on my Iphone!

This is a page of my husband's first surgery ever! He had to have knee surgery to clean up a medial meniscus tear in his right knee.
I used a LO sketch done by a woman named Susan for Scrapbook Chicks "Finished in 15" class through Ustream. She is fabulous and funny!

And these Layouts below were Page Kits I purchased from Out on a Limb Scrapbooking. If you haven't heard of them, you most definitely should check them out! Super Cute stuff!!
My girls playing Guitar Hero at Sea World San Diego, July 2009.

My daughter Sarina and her cousing Christian riding the rides at San Diego County Fair, 2009.

And these are my oldest daughter, Breanna, getting buried in the sand by her sister and 3 cousins, Isaiah, Josef and Noah at Coronado Beach, CA.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all enjoyed your Independence Day! Hopefully I will be able to get back on here soon with some more scrappy goodness!
Til next time!
xoxo,
Karen

FF #36

Where has the time gone?? I haven't blogged in awhile, since I've been crazy busy! We bought a travel trailer and my parents bought an RV, so we've been camping a lot here lately. I just love going out and seeing new places.....and the kids seem to enjoy it too (except when they want to hang out with their friends....LOL!!!)

Here is a page I did for The Shoe blog. It was a photo inspiration of this photo:

I decided to use the "princess" part of it and used pics of my daughters and our friends kids from our WDW trip (April 2007). We had breakfast with the Princesses at Epcot and it was so cool and we had a blast. Below I've listed the items used for this project.

Products:

CS & PP - CTMH (Key to My Heart); Flowers - CTMH White Daisy blooms (painted); Punch - Martha Stewart Doily Lace Trim; Paint - Craft Smart (from Michaels) in Ivory & Aqua; Shimmer - Shimmerz Paints in Babys Breath; Eyelets - Unknown; Bling - Kaiser Craft Pearls in Champagne & Teal; Grunge Paper - Tim Holtz; Alphas - AC Thickers Glass Slipper & Marcella by K; Pen - Gelwriter; Tools: Crimper - Unknown; Sizzix Big Shot, Tim Holtz Alterations Die "Ornamental", Cropadile; Adhesives - Zots, Glossy Accents, Adtech Dot Runner, EK Success 3-D Dots.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!

Fashionista Friday - Mother's Day Theme

This week over at The Shoe our theme is Mother's Day....of course! It is coming up this Sunday, May 9th and what a great way to celebrate by creating a lovely LO or card for your Mom!

This LO I made is of my mom and I in 1974 and just her in 2004 (I've blacked out her face per her request.) This picture of the LO does not do it justice, it is really quite pretty in person. I am a lot like my mom: we look alike, we got gray hair early, we laugh alike, we have the same sense of humor, we married men who are just alike, we don't like our pictures taken, we both had 2 girls, etc....I could go on and on!

It took me awhile to go through all the albums of pics she had at her house to find the perfect ones, and let me tell you, there are not alot of pics of my mom or of her and I together (hence the baby pic of me!) She is my world, and I don't know what I would do without her!

I've titled this LO "You are so beautiful to me" and unfortunately I've lost my list of supplies that I used for it.

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out! I hope you all have a terrific Mother's Day!
