FF #36

Where has the time gone?? I haven't blogged in awhile, since I've been crazy busy! We bought a travel trailer and my parents bought an RV, so we've been camping a lot here lately. I just love going out and seeing new places.....and the kids seem to enjoy it too (except when they want to hang out with their friends....LOL!!!)

Here is a page I did for The Shoe blog. It was a photo inspiration of this photo:

I decided to use the "princess" part of it and used pics of my daughters and our friends kids from our WDW trip (April 2007). We had breakfast with the Princesses at Epcot and it was so cool and we had a blast. Below I've listed the items used for this project.

Products:

CS & PP - CTMH (Key to My Heart); Flowers - CTMH White Daisy blooms (painted); Punch - Martha Stewart Doily Lace Trim; Paint - Craft Smart (from Michaels) in Ivory & Aqua; Shimmer - Shimmerz Paints in Babys Breath; Eyelets - Unknown; Bling - Kaiser Craft Pearls in Champagne & Teal; Grunge Paper - Tim Holtz; Alphas - AC Thickers Glass Slipper & Marcella by K; Pen - Gelwriter; Tools: Crimper - Unknown; Sizzix Big Shot, Tim Holtz Alterations Die "Ornamental", Cropadile; Adhesives - Zots, Glossy Accents, Adtech Dot Runner, EK Success 3-D Dots.

Fashionista Friday - Mother's Day Theme

This week over at The Shoe our theme is Mother's Day....of course! It is coming up this Sunday, May 9th and what a great way to celebrate by creating a lovely LO or card for your Mom!

This LO I made is of my mom and I in 1974 and just her in 2004 (I've blacked out her face per her request.) This picture of the LO does not do it justice, it is really quite pretty in person. I am a lot like my mom: we look alike, we got gray hair early, we laugh alike, we have the same sense of humor, we married men who are just alike, we don't like our pictures taken, we both had 2 girls, etc....I could go on and on!

It took me awhile to go through all the albums of pics she had at her house to find the perfect ones, and let me tell you, there are not alot of pics of my mom or of her and I together (hence the baby pic of me!) She is my world, and I don't know what I would do without her!

I've titled this LO "You are so beautiful to me" and unfortunately I've lost my list of supplies that I used for it.

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out! I hope you all have a terrific Mother's Day!

Update, Layouts & Cards (lots!!)

First off, I would like to apologize to my readers (all 7 of you....LOL!!!) I haven't updated my blog in FOREVER!! I've been kind of busy with work, family & life in general and just couldn't find the time to post!

We have recently purchased a camping membership, a travel trailer and my husband had knee surgery (just this week) and I have been taking care of him....although he is finally up and around, thank goodness!!

Here are some things I've done in the past month, some just for myself and others for The Shoe blog, which I have neglected to post on there, but I did do them!!

This page was done for the March 19th challenge at The Shoe. Our mission: Trees!! We must use trees somehow in our project. My pic has trees and I also stamped some trees at the bottom.

The products I used were:
CS -Bazzill; PP - MME (Laundry Line Coastal & Flirty); Paint - Adirondack in Pink Sherbert; Ink - CTMH in Blush; Stamp - CTMH "Aspiration"; Pen - AC Slick Writer in Brown; Tag - Joanns; Adhesives - Zots, Scotch, Herma; Sketch - Page Maps August 2007; Unknowns - Buttons & Flowers

Next, I did this page for the March 26th challenge at The Shoe. Mission: Recycle!! I used the corrugated inside of a USPS box and sprayed shimmer stuff on it! This is my daughter, Sarina, acting silly in San Diego!

Products used:
CS - DCWV; Corrugated board - USPS; Paint - Tattered Angels in Lemon Meringue & Fruit Punch; Alphas - AC Thickers Daiquiri; Bling - Best Occasions; Flower - Prima; Pen - Sakura Black Glaze; Adhesives - Zots & Scotch.

This card was for the April 2nd challenge (Use Eggs). It didn't come out the way I had hoped, but it's still cute!Products used:
CS & PP - DCWV; Stamps - CTMH "Easter Eggs"; Ribbon - Offray; Ink - CTMH Citrus Leaf, Blush, Crystal Blue & Orange; Gems - Darice; Adhesives - Scotch; Pen - Sakura White; Sketch - CTMH Originals.

And last but not least for The Shoe challenges is for April 9th's Color Challenge (Kraft, Pastel Blue & Pastel Yellow). This is my oldest daughter and her cousin riding a ride at the San Diego Fair last July. Too Cute!

Products used:
CS - Bazzill, DCWV; PP - Unknown; Shimmer Ink - Shimmerz Vibez Sunset Strip & Jeni B Bleu; Flowers - Unknown (white & sprayed); Adhesives - Scotch, Herma, Zots; Ink - CTMH Heavenly Blue; Font - Americana BT; Brad - Unknown; Sketch - Page Maps August 2007.

Now onto some stuff I did just for me...LOL!! These are from the San Diego Fair on July 3, 2009. We flew from Virginia to California that day and went straight to the fair from the airport (because Joan Jett was playing that night at the fair!!) We had so much fun, but were exhausted the next day!

This pic is my youngest, Sarina, eating a Gigantic Turkey Leg at the fair. Eyes bigger than her stomach!

Products used:
(Most things are from the Little Red Scrapbook March Kit) CS - Bazzill; PP - Sassafras; Tag - Unknown; Adhesive - Herma, Scotch; Bling - Recollections; Alpha - AC Daiquiri (in white & painted); Paint - Adirondack in Pool; Pen - Gel Writer.
And lastly.....Another one from the fair. This is my oldest daughter with her youngest cousin. They have never met (she was born WAY after we moved from San Diego), but you wouldn't have known that it was their first meeting! Gracie just loved her "new" cousins like crazy!
Products used:
Again, most from the Little Red Scrapbook March Kit! CS - Bazzill; PP - Sassafras; Tag - GCD Designs; Sketch - Page Maps June 2007; Sizzix Big Shot; Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder; EK Success corner rounder; Shimmerz Vibez in Sunset Strip; Pen - Gel Writer; Alpha - AC Thickers Gift Box; Paint - Adirondack in Pool; Adhesives - Scotch, Herma, Zots & Pop Dots.
Well, that's it for now!! I have one more project I need to get done for The Shoe Fashionista Friday Challenge coming up this week. I'm hoping I can get it done tonight after dinner, but won't post until Friday!! I also missed this past Friday's challenge, which was an inspiration challenge, because my mother brought over the wrong albums!! I'm thinking I might have to go to her house and get the pics I need so I can get that one done this week too!
Thanks for stopping by and reading!! I will try and update again this week!!
Til next time,
Karen

FF #26 - March Color Challenge

This weeks challenge over at The Shoe is a color challenge.....Black, White and Green, which fits perfectly for St. Patty's Day right"? Well, I didn't go that route but I made this beautiful LO of my girls in their soccer uniforms which just so happened to be green! I titled it "Joy Beautified", because that is what they are to me.

Be sure to stop on over to The Shoe this week to see what the other GDT's did for this challenge.

Til next time!

Happy Birthday Noah!!

On Tuesday, March 9th, my nephew Noah is turning 9!! I totally cannot believe that he is almost to the double digits! He has grown up so quickly, but is a super, crazy, funny boy....you should see some of the looks he gives and some of the cutest little comments he makes (see picture below for one of his funny moments from my vacation back to San Diego last summer!!)

I also used a Freebie Digi Stamp from Bugaboo Stamps that is so cute!! Be sure to check out their website HERE for some awesome stamps you can buy!

When my lovely sister-in-law, Angel, was expecting him, they told her during the ultrasound that she was having a girl. She was excited because she had 2 boys already and wanted to get her hands on some girlie pink stuff. When we had her baby shower, she got plenty of pink things and I made a comment that it would be "funny" if it turned out she was actually having a boy!!

Come delivery day, I got to the hospital late (I worked in the City of San Diego and he was born at Camp Pendleton Navy Hospital in Oceanside, CA which is about 45 minutes away with no traffic, 1 1/2 hours if there is traffic). My husband was stationed on Camp Pendleton, so he was already at the hospital waiting for me. When I walked up to him he told me that the baby was already here and that it was a little boy. I said "You're lying!!" and he said "Unless little girls come with little winkies, it's a boy!!" My poor sister-in-law was a little upset, but she soon got over that (he is her little sidekick now and I think her favorite....LOL!!) I had to run to Walmart to get some baby boy clothes since all they had were pink frilly things!! So instead of an Eliana Isabel Leilani Vasquez, we got our Noah Joaquin....and I wouldn't trade him for the world!!

Thanks for letting me share my story of my nephew's birth with you all. I love recounting the day he was born!! Til next time,

xoxo,
Karen
